The Fired Therapist

Imagine being in the middle of couples therapy, and your dream of having land and growing your own food for your family comes up. The therapist asks something to the extent of the success of your previous gardens. You mention that you haven’t had much success since you would let them go due either being pregnant or postpartum in previous years, and he responds by telling you “maybe it is time to admit that you’re not very good and you should quit.”

Would you be shocked if I told you we fired him? That summer was the first successful year I grew vegetables in my garden. It was the year that my children picked tomatoes off of the vine. It was the year that I decided I would never not have a garden again.

As the years have gone I have cultivated my love for a vegetable garden and started growing flowers to add into the garden. Last year I decided to try my hand at growing flowers for my ceremony. Although, we had a cold spring that led to delayed blooms, the flowers sparked a new love in the garden.

This year I decided that I want to expand that love and be able to share that joy with those in my community. Leading to the opening of our micro flower farm. I am bringing you along for the journey of creating this beautiful space.
